Why Sponsor Wigmore Follies?
What is Wigmore Follies, and why should you be a part of it?
Wigmore Follies is Northwestern University School of Law’s annual, musical satire. It is named in honor of John Henry Wigmore, former Dean of the Law School who also dabbled in comedic songwriting. What began as a series of humorous skits by students and professors has evolved in recent years to become a full, theatrical production. The Follies is now a complete musical play in two acts, incorporating popular songs with spoofed lyrics and original choreography, as well as professional quality sound and lights, and introduction and intermission videos.
Wigmore Follies is wholly student produced. The script, song lyrics, and choreography are entirely student developed. The set, props, and costumes are also designed and built by students. Additionally, the funding for Wigmore Follies is secured entirely by students, through sponsorship solicitation, fundraisers, and ticket and DVD sales.
So why should you be involved with the Wigmore Follies? First, Wigmore Follies gives you wide exposure at the law school. Over its two night run, the show is seen by more than 600 students, faculty, alumni, and their friends and family. Additionally, our promotional materials are posted around the school up to six weeks in advance of the show. Another benefit of partnering with Wigmore Follies is that you associate yourself with a unique and enjoyable part of the law school experience. The Follies allows students to take a step back and laugh at law school, their professors, and themselves. Sponsorship is a great way to support the lighter side of law school, and acknowledge the need for balance within the profession.
We have prepared a brief video that shows what Wigmore Follies is, its importance to the law school, and some of the benefits of sponsorship.
